The Teaching with Primary Sources Program is a Library of Congress funded grant that strives to help prepare educators to use primary sources in their classrooms, including: images, audio and visual recordings, documents, and a host of others. The mission of the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) program is to:
1) build awareness of the Library’s educational initiatives;
2) provide content that promotes the effective educational use of the Library’s resources; and
3) offer access to and promote sustained use of the Library’s educational resources.
Since 2016, the STEM Center and the Teaching with Primary Sources Program at SIUE have partnered to provide free professional development workshops for elementary and middle school teachers each summer. These workshops explore the connections between history and STEM and help educators provide opportunities for their students to benefit from learning them together.
