The current IFLIP 2.0 project builds on an earlier IFLIP grant in collaboration with previous STEM Center Faculty Fellow Chaya Gopalan, a professor in both SIUE’s School of Education, Health and Human Behavior and School of Nursing. This program supports the development of STEM education by introducing an innovative teaching model known as “Flipped Teaching” to faculty members at 2- and 4-year institutions of higher learning across Illinois and St Louis. In flipped teaching, students prepare for class with pre-readings or videos, and then during class they actively engage in group discussion and problem solving, flipping the traditional lecture structure. Faculty members will receive training to implement these innovative teaching methods at SIUE, Saint Louis Community College, City Colleges of Chicago-Malcolm X College, Chicago State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Oakton College, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and Shawnee Community College.

This program is supported by NSF IUSE award #2439762.
